Dr. Yang officially accepted three new disciples for the remaining 9 years of the 10-year training program. After months of testing and comprehensive interviews, Javier Rodriguez and Zach Cohen officially began their intensive training at the YMAA Retreat Center as disciples of Dr. Yang. Also accepted as a disciple was YMAA South Africa President and long-time YMAA student Corlius Birkill. There was a formal ceremony held in the Retreat Center's new outdoor training space. Many friends and neighbors were invited to the center to witness the event. Also present were senior YMAA students Aaron Damus and Ben Warner from YMAA Boston.
