Grandmaster Kao, Tao (高濤) Visit and Other News
Dr. Yang and the Retreat Center students enjoyed a visit during May from Grandmaster Kao, Tao. Master Kao was Dr. Yang's first Tai Chi teacher in Taiwan in 1962. During his visit, Master Kao taught daily classes to the disciples. Master Kao also filmed an instructional video with YMAA director David Silver. The "Qigong for Longevity" DVD will be released in 2011. The students performed a demonstration for Master Kao, which you may see here.
The Retreat Center students also wrote and shot their first instructional video. The "Kung Fu Body Conditioning" DVD captures the disciples' first year of training, including running, jumping, tumbling, climbing trees, standing on bricks, strength development, and endurance training.
Several students will be competed in Kung Fu Tai Chi Magazine's martial arts tournament on June 12-13. We are starting a new fundraising drive to help subsidize there costs for competing and travel. Any additional donations to the Retreat Center are also welcome. We require more than half of our donations come from sources other than Dr. Yang to remain in a preferable tax bracket, and we are not there yet. Dr. Yang continues to support the majority of this project from his personal income. Please consider a tax-deductible donation of any amount, or an ongoing monthly donor subscription.
