About the Programs
Overview
We are currently accepting applications for the 3-Year Taijiquan & Qigong program.You can also still come train with us in the programs and seminars as a visiting student. Please see the visiting page for more details.
Students of the Full-Time Programs train at the center directly under Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming year round. Visitors are welcome to come train together with students of the full-time programs during the Fall and Spring semesters. Please see the visiting page for more details.

Goals
- A graduated student must have fluent knowledge, skills, and capability in the program curriculum. They should be able to comfortably apply the material in practical use cases.
- A graduated student must have a high level of morality.
- A graduated student must know how to survive financially in society (business management & financial planning).
- A graduated student must have good language skills: reading, writing, and speaking.
- A graduated student must have an abundant knowledge of Chinese martial arts history and Chinese culture.

Qigong Program
Qigong is the practice of understanding, feeling, and controlling one's body energy. It is commonly used in conjunction with exercise, meditation, massage, and other healing applications. Qigong allows practitioners to excel physically and mentally beyond their normal limitations. Students in the Qigong program will cover Qigong theory, meditation, massage, injury treatment, medical Qigong, and Grand Circulation. This program will cover the following, specific training sets: Eight Pieces of Brocade, Four Seasons Qigong, Five Animal Sports Qigong, Taiji Qigong, and White Crane Qigong. Successful graduates are expected to have the capability of applying their understanding of Qigong outside of the classroom. Guest instructors may be invited for training in specific topics, including but not limited to acupuncture, herbal treatments, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Tui Na massage.
Supplemental reading and DVD material will be required. Students are encouraged to consult material outside of the required reading list.
Upon successful completion of the required hours and exams, graduates will be conferred a diploma granting them the title of “Qigong Assistant Instructor.” The diploma will fully qualify graduates to obtain entry-level positions on teaching the subject of general Qigong. Continued teaching for at least 5 years is required before the title can be upgraded to “Qigong Instructor.”

Taijiquan Program
Taijiquan is an internal martial art that improves health, longevity, and spirit. It trains physical stability, mental equilibrium, body mobility, and relaxation. In its self-defense applications, Taijiquan employs the use of softness to redirect, manipulate, and dissolve external, muscular force. Martial applications include wrestling, joint-locking, striking, and kicking. Students in this program are required to train both the health and martial aspects of Taijiquan. Although the main style trained will be Yang-Style, an emphasis will be placed on understanding Taijiquan as a whole, inclusive of all styles. This program includes Pushing Hands, weapons training, and sparring, in addition to basic Taiji Qigong. Guest instructors may be invited to teach additional styles, including but not limited to: Chen-Style, Sun-Style, Liu He Ba Fa, Xingyiquan, and Baguazhang.

Graduates will be conferred a diploma granting them the title of “Taijiquan Assistant Instructor” or “Taijiquan Instructor” depending on the number of hours completed and exams passed. The diploma will fully qualify graduates to teach the general topic of Taijiquan but with a clearly-demonstrated expertise in Yang-Style. Having completed the full requirements of the program, they will be qualified at the level of a proficient and fluent professional.

Shaolin Program
Shaolin is a style of external martial arts. It is a physically intense and mentally challenging discipline. Traditional Shaolin is often referred to as simply Kung Fu, not to be confused with Wushu, which is a performance-based art. Kung Fu stresses practicality, purpose, and application behind each movement, not aesthetic quality. Students in this program will train Kung Fu through the styles of Long Fist and White Crane, which should allow them to understand most other styles of Kung Fu. Included in the program are stances, joint-locking, hand forms, kicks, wrestling, weapons training, and sparring. Guest instructors may be invited to teach other styles, including but not limited to Praying Mantis, Snake Fist, Eagle Claw, Baji Quan, Tongbei Quan, Wing Tsun, and Ground Control.

Graduates will be conferred a diploma granting them the title of “Shaolin Assistant Instructor” or “Shaolin Instructor,” depending on the number of hours completed and exams passed. The diploma will signify a strong competency in the art of Kung Fu, including the capability of self-defense. All graduates will be qualified to teach at the professional level.
